To Blow Dry or To Air Dry?

Air drying. Air drying is usually done by people who have short and low-maintenance hairstyles, or by people with curly hair. There are also people who have long hair yet have their hair air dry, as air drying does not subject the hair to excessive heat. Therefore, the hair is not as susceptible to damage as hair that is blow dried.
If you are going to have your hair air dried, it is very important to remember that the hair is at its weakest when it is wet. So, take care not to rub your hair dry with the use of a towel. The friction caused by rubbing the hair with a towel will make the hair brittle and eventually break. Rather than rubbing it, you should instead blot the moisture out of your hair with the towel. Also, be careful not to tug or pull at your hair that much when it is still wet. Once the water is blotted out of the hair, fluff it out with your fingers.
Blow Drying. Blow drying the hair is the most convenient way of doing it, and because most people live fast-paced lives, blow drying the hair is the way most people want to do it. Moreover, drying the hair using a blower adds volume to the hair. But inasmuch that blow drying is very convenient, it is also dangerous to the hair, especially if overdone. It can make the hair very brittle.
If you blow dry your hair, make sure that it is not soaking. Blot the water out with a towel first. Do not hold the dryer too close to your head; keep it at least six inches away from your hair and move the dryer constantly around your head. Protect the outer strands of your hair from being over-dried by bending over and blow drying your hair with your hair hanging upside down. Also, try not to dry your hair completely with the blow dryer. Stop while the hair is still slightly damp.
Whether you air dry your hair or you blow dry it is completely your own choice based on your own lifestyle and preferences. But whatever you do, always remember that the hair is fragile. Be careful while handling it.

My Two Cents on Boticca

I have no idea if Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba or Cameron Diaz have good taste. But whoever is designing their fashion accessories is also selling pieces on Boticca.com.

Boticca.com, the global online marketplace for unique jewellery, bags and accessories from top independent designers, has put Pinterest, the virtual pinboard platform, under the microscope and has discovered that the social media network has emerged as the brand's number one social outlet in terms of sales.
Boticca Global search map

Boticca is a London-based global destination for jewelry and fashion accessories, that features a worldwide selection of talented, emerging fashion designers. Publicly launched in October 2009, Boticca’s team has handpicked more than 160 independent designers from over 40 countries on 6 continents.

The Quote of the Day

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”

Hairstyling Pioneer "Vidal Sassoon" Dies

Noted hairstylist Vidal Sassoon, known for creating the modern “bob,” has died at age 84.
His "wash and wear" philosophy liberated women from the "tyranny of the salon" and "revolutionized the art of hairstyling." Sassoon's styles became "emblematic of freedom and good health," and their popularity allowed him to open the first chain of worldwide hair styling salons, complemented by his hair-treatment products. He is also remembered for his television commercials in the 1960s. Vidal Sassoon: The Movie, a documentary film about his life, was released in 2010.

Maurice Sendak Dies on Tuesday

American author of more than 50 books, passes away after a stroke. Maurice Sendak didn't think of himself as a children's author, but as an author who told the truth about childhood. Sendak gained international acclaim after writing and illustrating " Where the Wild Things Are." In the world of children's picture books, where cute and cuddly know few limits, the author and illustrator was neither but brilliant never the less.
His final book, "Bumble-Ardy", was published eight months prior to his death.

“There must be more to life than having everything.”
                                         ― Maurice Sendak

May Horoscope for Cancer

Monthly Career Horoscope for Cancer

You'll get an opportunity to take some time off during the first week of May. Visit a waterside location that puts you at peace. This would be a great opportunity to reconnect with your lover after a stint of hard work. If you're single, don't be surprised if you make a love connection with a powerful executive. An embarrassing secret could come to light around May 20, when a Solar Eclipse energizes your Twelfth House of hidden matters. Be willing to own up to a mistake and vow to do better. Don't pretend to have more schooling than you actually possess.
